MG RACING - OUR PASSION!
When not working on customers cars, we can often be found building and preparing our own cars for racing.
Gary started racing his 1275 MG Midget in 1999 and won the MGOC novice cup! He then continued with the MGOC championship and finished 3rd in Class A in 2000 and again in 2001. He finally won the 2002 BARC/MG Owners Club Class A and Overall Racing Championship in the 1275 Midget. He then moved on to MGF’s continuing to finish high in the standings until winning the 2005 Class F and Overall championship in an MGF VVC. In 2006/7, we changed tactics and swapped to front wheel drive competing in the EERC/Britcar endurance championship in an MG ZR putting out 240BHP on slicks from a 2 litre k-series engine!
We successfully won Production S1 class in 2006 and Overall in Production Class 2007! Gary also won the 2008 MGOC Class Z title in an MG ZR160. 2010, 2011 & 2012 saw Gary racing in a Ginetta G50 with his father-in-law in Britcar endurance. All cars have been sold on to fellow competitors and are still winning races! Gary is fortunate enough to have been offered a drive for this season with his father-in-law, Mick Mercer in a Ginetta G55. The pairing of Gary and Mick will run in the GT Cup Championship run by Top Cats, very experienced Husband and Wife team Warren and Charlotte Gilbert. They will be competing at some of the top circuits in Great Britain such as Brands Hatch and Silverstone GP.
